Titans earn first Horizon

The women's soccer team won its first conference game of the year Sunday afternoon, defeating Youngstown State University 3-1 on a rainy day at Titan Field. Rebecca Pidgeon led the Titans with her first two career goals to help snap the team's six-game losing streak. (0) comments

The Titan softball team is under new management this year, and coach Sunny Jones has been making quite an impression. Jones comes to Detroit Mercy from the University of Toledo, where she was assistant coach. She has nine years of coaching experience under her belt. (0) comments

Titans can learn from hockey team

Friday night, a group of students laced up their skates and pulled on jerseys stitched with the letters representing the University of Detroit Mercy. For the first time in school history, UDM would be competing in a hockey game. A student section, school photographer and The Varsity News were there - all staples of UDM sporting events. Hockey comes to UDM

The UDM club hockey team began its inaugural season, splitting a pair of games against Lake Superior State University over the weekend at City Sports Center in Detroit. The team's first-ever victory came Friday night with a 6-5 win over the Lakers. Lake Superior regrouped Saturday, however, and defeated UDM 5-4. (6) comments

Men's soccer coach resigns mid-season Morris Lupenec, head coach of the Detroit Titans men's soccer team, stepped down midway through his 18th season on the sidelines Monday afternoon. "This was a difficult decision for me to make but, for personal reasons, I'm stepping down today," he said. (0) comments
