The annual Celebrate Spirit service will be held at Gesu Church, just north of the campus, this year instead of in Calihan Hall.

The move is a result of repairs being made to the floor in Calihan.

The service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, and will be led by UDM President Gerard L. Stockhausen.

The theme of this year's service is how the earth, environment and creation fit with the university's mission. Everyone is invited to attend.

"It is the only event that brings students, faculty and employees together in the year, and it welcomes the new students and employees," said the Rev. Gary Wright, S.J., of Campus Ministry. He said that the service is a time for the university community to reflect on the mission and the coming school year.

Wright asked that all new students and new employees meet in the Health Professions Building prior to the service to be part of the opening procession.

After, a picnic lunch will be provided near the fountain north of the Student Union.

The Student Organization Fair will be held in the same area. At the fair, students new and old can become familiar with the various clubs and groups that operate on campus and are seeking members.
