UDM's just-released annual security report shows that the number of burglaries and vehicle thefts dropped between 2007 and 2008 on the McNichols campus.
The report, required by law, is available online. It details reports of crime over a three-year span.
No instances of aggravated assault were reported in 2008.
Campus burglaries fell to 21 in 2008 from 25 in 2007. There were 15 in 2006. Motor vehicle thefts have continued to decline. In 2006, 14 were reported; in 2007, four; and 2008, two.
Three robberies were reported on campus over the three-year span, but that number is expected to rise in 2009.
Also included in the security report were arrests and referrals for selected offenses. The categories included drugs, liquor, and weapons. There were no arrests in any of the categories.
Resident referrals, however, posted drastic ups and downs. There were four referrals given out in 2006, two for drugs and two for liquor.
In 2007, there were 179 referrals given out, 37 for drugs and 142 for liquor.
In 2008, there were 28 given out for drugs and 83 given out for liquor.
