VN staff earns six state honors

The Varsity News won six awards in the annual Michigan Press Association competition for college newspapers.
Michael Martinez, VN sports editor, took second place for best sports news story and third place for best sports page design.
Roshelle Vogel, news editor, received third place honors for best sports feature.
These former staff members also were recognized: Starsha McCrary, third place, best feature photo; Marcus Acuna, honorable mention, best sports feature; and Kevin Marlinga, honorable mention, best feature story.
The honors, announced earlier this month, were for contributions to the paper last year.
The Varsity News competes in division three for papers published less often than once a week.

Great job everyone.
I am really impressed with the on-line edition. Lots of good stories with depth.
