Whether you've had a long day and need to relax or just need to kill a few hours, the Titan Fit Zone is almost always open to you. And you don't have to work out to enjoy it.

The gaming area is quickly becoming a popular spot where students can enjoy a relaxing game by themselves or with friends.

"We have a Wii and an Xbox 360," said Adam Hollmann, assistant director of campus recreation. "For the Wii, we have Wii Sports, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Grand Slam Tennis and Summer Sports. And by the time this article is out, we'll have Madden NFL 10 for the 360."

There are two 37-inch HDTVs for students to play the games on.

Of course, students aren't limited by the game owned by the Titan Fit Zone. Students are encouraged to bring their own games (and friends) to play.

Most of those who frequent the gaming area enjoy sports games, such as NCAA Football and NBA Live10.

Before games systems were purchased, students were polled and chose Wii and Xbox 360 over Playstation 3.

"The students like the Wii because of the interactivity, but we have a 360 for the hardcore gamers," said Hollmann.

Students Hector Oscana and Danny Garcia are frequent users of the gaming area and can often be seen playing FIFA 10.

"We like it down here. We come to kill time between class," said Oscana.

"We're down here about two times a week for two hours at a time," said Garcia.

The gaming area is busiest from noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

"We plan on having tournaments eventually, but we don't want to compete with the library's gaming nights," said Hollmann. "We try to make as many people as we can happy with what we have, but you can't make everyone happy."

Hollmann welcomes suggestions related to games or events. Leave them in the suggestion box or email Hollmann at hollmaap@udmercy.edu.
