Second Annual Senior Class Gift Campaign Kick-off
Issue date: 2/3/10 Section: News
The Senior Class Gift Campaign will kick off on Thursday, Feb. 11.
Food and drinks will be served and raffle prizes awarded, 5:30-7 p.m., before the Titan men's basketball game in the Ed Brooks Room in Calihan Hall.
Undergraduate seniors are welcome to attend to learn more as the student committee unveils its plans for the class gift.
The financial campaign encourages students to give back to the University of Detroit Mercy.
A volunteer committee explores various class gift options and helps plan and promote campaign events on campus.
Organizers ask all members of the class of 2010 to make modest contributions in support of the university.
The program's success is not measured by the dollars raised but by the number of senior students making gifts to the campaign and participating in events, according to Eileen Pawlowski of the alumni relations department. Senior contributions help increase the UDM's ranking in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges."
Last year, over 60 seniors made a gift, raising over $1,200 and capturing $1,000 in matching dollars. The class purchased a 52-inch Sharp television, which is in the basement of the Student Center.
