Well, it's that time again: midterms.

We all survived and with the season changing, it's time to refocus our energy and plow through the last few weeks of the semester.

We all know how difficult it is to stay focused and driven throughout the school year.

Now that the birds are chirping and the days are slowly getting longer and warmer, it is an even bigger challenge.

But there are a few things you can do to beat the midwinter blues.

For starters, make sure you are getting seven to eight hours of sleep a night. We can all attest to being able to function more efficiently when we are well rested.

Also, make sure you are consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. They help keep your brain sharp and your body healthy.

Finally, don't overlook a regular exercise plan. When you work out, you release endorphins - natural painkillers that heal your body and make your overall mood improve.

Visit the Titan Fitness Center or take a yoga class offered on campus. When it starts to get a little warmer out, take a brisk walk in the sun. You body will thank you for the increase in Vitamin D.

If you think you may have Seasonal Affective Disorder (an increase in depression or anxiety during the winter months), don't ignore it. Get it checked out.

With a few adjustments to your hectic schedule, the second half of the semester should fly by.

Remember to keep your energy positive and remember there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel we call winter.
